This was a really thorough breakdwn of MongoDB's position. The framing around governed hybrid retrieval vs pure vector performace is something I haven't seen articulated this clearly elsewhere. I think your bull case makes sense if enterprises really do consolidate their stacks, but I'm skeptical that happens quickly. The inertia around "we already have Postgres running" is huge, especially for smaller companies building AI features. That said, the governance angle for regulated industries is underrated. Banks and healthcare aren't going to stitch together three different systems with inconsistent security policies just to save a few milliseconds on vector search. So maybe the real play is MongoDB captures the high value enterprise AI workloads while Postgres takes the long tail? Curious how you see that plying out.

Thanks, Robots & Chips — great point. I don't see consolidation as a tidal wave, but as a barbell:

One end: Postgres wins the long tail. The inertia of "free and familiar" is immense.

The other end: Integrated systems win in regulated/complex enterprises where unified governance and real-time data aren't just nice-to-haves, they're requirements.

The shift happens when the pain of managing a stitched-together stack outweighs the convenience. Appreciate you making me sharpen the argument.
